Plain Tiger — Kenya, Mount Kenya
Bright, structured, and unmistakable
Tasting notes
Blackcurrant · Red berries · Grapefruit · Floral tea
The coffee
Grown in the highlands of Central Kenya, this washed lot brings together coffees from smallholder producers across regional washing stations. Juicy berry leads, layered with citrus brightness and delicate florals. Structured and vibrant, it finishes with a clean, wine-like acidity and a lingering sweetness.
On the name
Every Milkweed coffee is named for a butterfly that depends on milkweed to live. The Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus) is one of them — a milkweed butterfly that ranges across the Kenyan highlands where this coffee is grown. Tawny, resilient, and impossible to miss in flight, it was the natural name for our brightest, most vivid Kenyan.
