lactic-anaerobic Tarrazú, rich, layered, and silky.
Tasting notes
Milk Chocolate · Red Apple · Citrus · Black Tea · Dried Fruit
The coffee
A lactic-anaerobic lot from small farms in Tarrazú, processed at the renowned Beneficio San Diego mill. The fermentation runs with no added water, converting the cherry’s natural fruit sugars into lactic acid — intensifying both sweetness and complexity. The result is rich and layered, with a bright citrus edge and a silky body.
On the name
Every Milkweed coffee is named for a milkweed butterfly — one of the family raised on the plant we’re named for. The Queen (Danaus gilippus) is a close relative of both the monarch and our Soldier, ranging through Central America and the Costa Rican highlands this coffee comes from. Regal and unmistakable, it was the natural name for our most expressive lot — a step up from its neighbour at the same mill.
